errors with squid 2.3develope3

Hi
I am running linux redhat 6.0
I have 4G available in /var partition

when I run squid I get the following errors in cache.log

1999/12/08 07:58:58| Set Current Directory to /var/spool/cache/00
1999/12/08 07:58:58| diskHandleWrite: FD 4: disk write error: (28) No space
left
 on device
FATAL: Write failure -- check your disk space and cache.log
Squid Cache (Version 2.3.DEVEL3): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: 0.030 seconds = 0.020 user + 0.010 sys
Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB

and as you see squid died
any idea what is wrong
