On second thought I have to agree with you on this one. These servers I am
using are also doing some other "standard" services at the same time, and
never have those operations stalled or slowed down...

The funny thing is though that I have only noticed this behaviour after I
upgraded to 2.2.13. Ofcourse, going back to 2.2.12 would probably solve the
problem, but might open up some other (security-related) issues...

I hope the squid-developers could have a good look at it on a relatively
heavily loaded server with a eepro 100 card (PCI)... I do think I may be
this typical kernel revision related... My knowledge of the source or kernel
is just not so extensive that I could pin-point where exactly the problem
may lie...
