I have a squid server running on below details.
RedHat 7.0
Squid 2.3 stable 4
Pentium III 650
256MB RAM
3 Segate Barracuda 18X Ultra2 SCSI
Intel Ethernet card.SB82558B
Using wccp module.
I have two questions.
1. CPU load gets up to more than 2 easily when the traffic get more than
5-6Mbps(Both up and downstream). Sometimes up to even 3. Is this normal?
2. I get messages like..
kernel: eth0: can't fill rx buffer (force 0)!
kernel: eth0: can't fill rx buffer (force 1)!
.... repeats alot...
so I thought there are some problem with the ethernet card and changed
to d-link 500TX. But this card also gave me strange messages like..
kernel: eth0: Somthing Wicked happened! 0009.
kernel: eth0: Somthing Wicked happened! 0008.
kernel: eth0: Somthing Wicked happened! 0009.
kernel: eth0: Somthing Wicked happened! 0009.
......
then I changed the ethernet card to d-link 530TX.. but this card didnt
give any messages and I have found out by typing ifconfig that any
incoming packet is dropped.
Any idea what is wrong??
