make sure that you have something like the following in your squid.conf
http_access deny CONNECT !SSL_ports
as long as you have the default definitions of the access lists CONNECT and SSL_ports, mirc will be unable to connect to irc servers
on the standard irc ports.
mirc uses the http CONNECT method to establish it's connection.
