You can, but not using proxy authentication.

IDENT can theoretically be used in a transparent proxy, but only if the
OS allows the proxy to make ident queries masquerading as the origin web
server.. And there is also numerous IP based authorization schemes one
can use.

IDENT is very rarely used by web servers, and never for authorization.
