Have heard very conflicting reports on this subject during the last
month.. apparently there is supposed to be a proxy user+password field
in the MSN proxy settings somewhere..

It is, provided you can write an acl which matches the messenger
sessions.

Most likely this is best done by using a dstdomain ACL to match the
destination servers used by MSN messenger and to allow access to these
destinations without authentication (just allow them before where you
require authentication in your list of http_access rules). It may also
be possible to match using the browser acl type, but such acls might be
abused by your users once they figure out that MSN messenger is allowed
access without authentication...
