[squid-users] optimal not too agressive refresh patterns

Hi all
any of us squid users who r ISPs .what sort of refresh patterns r they using
that is not too aggressive :-)
can anyone send one sample
i know that the browsing habits are different but most customers usually access
email sites like yahoo, news sites and.. ;-)
would enforcing a minimal age help to boost up the Byte Hit Rates .....
 BTW has anyone done a comparison between a good h/w based squid box say like
having 512 MB ram and 4 scsc1 hard disks and Cisco's Cache engine ..
Cisco has yet to appear in a bakeoff i believe
